Canadian here. I am trying to learn how to spell Russian but your people's moon runes escape me. Is there an easy way or a quick way to learn that online resources don't mention or am i just going to have to deal with it.Also is it true that if i learn Russian that the differences in Ukrainian are so little that i will have learned it as well?Will answer anything about Canada or English if you like.

At best you will understand overall meaning of the sentence.Alphabet and sentence structure is almost identical, but ukrainian vocabulary is closer to belorussian and polska. Sometimes words are just distorted (привет, можно с тобой познакомиться/привіт, можна з тобою познайомитися), sometimes they are completely different.It is true though that you can easily communicate in Ukraine using just russian language, locals know both.
